Patrizio started practising Karate at the age of 14 in 1973, with Maestro Fausto Taiten Guareschi, continuing until 1985 and achieving 1st kyu .(brown belt). He took up Karate once more in 1995, following Master Laurini in taking up the Goju-Ryu style of Yamaguchi Goshi. In 1997, he achieved 1st Dan black belt and took part in his first international IKGA seminar in Courmayeur. In 1998, he took the 1st Dan FIJLKAM Italian Federation exam. In 2000, he achieved 2nd Dan grading and became a 2nd level National Referee. In the following years, he achieved 3rd Dan FIJLKAM (2003) and 2nd Dan IKGA (in 2006). In 2006, he took part in his first international World Karate Goju-Ryu competition, taking 3rd place. In 2008, he took the 4th Dan exam at the FIJLKAM Olympic Village in Ostia Lido and became a 1st level National Referee, which would lead to him refereeing important national competitions. In 2009, he achieved IKGA3rd Dan in Portugal. He helped organise the IKGA stage in Norcia, Italy in 2010. In 2014, he passed the IKGA 4th Dan exam in Germany. He has taken part in various CONI Sports In Schools project courses and taught local 6-11 year olds in both Pellegrino Parmense and Salsomaggiore Terme.

He currently helps run the children’s course in Soragna and Fidenza Amateurs, and also referees in the Competitors’ course in Fidenza. He is the Vice President of Shu Ren Kan Amateur Sports Association and a permanent member of the Board of Directors.
